چکیده

Currently many aerospace vehicle systems require lightweight, high performance pressurized tank for storage of propellant, nitrogen, oxygen, or other medium. Aircrafts have several needs for high-pressure stored gas, like aircraft escape slide inflation systems, emergency oxygen supply, landing gear actuator, engine pressurized air start system and on-board inert gas generating system nitrogen enriched air receivers. For spacecraft application, the high-pressure gas is utilized for attitude control of the vehicle and propulsion purpose. Therefore, the leakage of the pressure vessel results in serious malfunction of the vehicle system causing a mission failure or mishap. It is prudent to recognize the fact that pressure vessels can fail in spite of high standard of qualification program. This paper reports an experimental investigation of the failure behavior of pressure vessels during high pressure of hydraulic loading. The pressure vessels were manufactured by two different procedures. One method is spin forming and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding process a m t c a ©

Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis of Stress Intensity Factors in a Spherical Pressure Vessel with Functionally Graded Coating

This research pertains to the three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA) of the stress intensity factors (SIFs) along the crack front in a spherical pressure vessel coated with functionally graded material (FGM). The vessel is subjected to internal pressure and thermal gradient. The exponential function is adopted for property of FGMs. SIFs are obtained for a wide variety of crack sha...

Failure Pressure Prediction of Semi Spherical GFRP Shells in Thermal Environment

In this article fluid-structure interaction of vibrating composite piezoelectric plates is investigated. Since the plate is assumed to be moderately thick, rotary inertia effects and transverse shear deformation effects are deliberated by applying exponential shear deformation theory. Fluid velocity potential is acquired using the Laplace equation, and fluid boundary conditions and wet dynamic ...

Effect of Material Gradient on Stresses of Thick FGM Spherical Pressure Vessels with Exponentially-Varying Properties

Using the Frobenius series method (FSM), an analytical solution is developed to obtain mechanical stresses of thick spherical pressure vessels made of functionally graded materials (FGMs). The cylinder pressure vessel is subjected to uniform internal pressure. The modulus of elasticity is graded along the radial direction according to power functions of the radial direction. It is assumed that ...
